A small-group discussion-based virtual learning program designed to introduce equity, diversity, and inclusion frameworks and how to manage important workplace conversations. In this session, participants will dive deeper into the dimensions of diversity, understanding the impacts of verbal and non-verbal communication in supporting an inclusive, diverse culture. Through action-based conversations, participants will address the challenges when communicating in diverse settings (e.g., language barriers, culture norms) and explore and uncover the Personas of Strategic Change. To support positive change, participants will learn communication approaches (e.g., listening vs. hearing, asking questions, and body language) used to acknowledge and respond when EDI obstacles occur. The session ends with a Personal Action Plan to for individuals to make positive organizational change.
This program is designed to teach participants how to:
- Understand various forms of diversity through the Dimensions of Diversity Framework
- Understand what unconscious bias is and how it can impact the decisions you make
- Learn why it is important to reduce our unconscious bias and how to
- Overcome blind spots within routine actions
- Build a vocabulary of inclusive pronouns
- Construct an equitable language guide and a visual guide for inclusive communications to support efforts toward equitable communications
- Role-play common scenarios about racism, discrimination, and unfairness
- Explain the GROW coaching model to manage navigate challenging ED&I scenarios
